Press Release: Statement by Elections Commission of Maldives regarding the International Observers and International Monitors

In compliance with the Presidential Elections Acts and Regulations, as well as international best practices and procedures, the Elections Commission of Maldives will be granting the opportunity for International Organizations to observe or monitor the upcoming Presidential Election to be held on the 23rd of September 2018.

A Total of 38 delegates from 11 International Organizations will be International Observers, and a total of 26 media representatives from 14 Medias will be monitoring the Election. The Commission received a total of 37 applications as international monitors from which 11 were rejected due to insufficient documents.

All international observers and monitors travelling to Maldives to observe or monitor the Election should adhere to the relevant rules and the Code of Conduct. For the general information of the public, mentioned below are the lists of accepted International Observers, Monitors and the rejected Monitors as well as the rejected Monitors.
